A native of the Washington area, Pat Whittle is an emerging artist based in Loudoun County. Pat holds degrees in both computer science and biology and has been involved in creating throughout her life. Her art reflects her connection to the natural world and also at times her sense of humor. Her love for the creative has only recently transitioned into pursuing more formal art training. Through drawing and painting classes at the Northern Virginia Community College, and the Compass Atelier in Rockville, she has found a vehicle to express her passions. Awards for her drawings and paintings soon followed at several NVCC Student Art Shows, and the Waterford Fair. She has also had works juried into regional shows. Her most recent paintings range from imaginative, intensely colored landscapes to more realistic renderings of nature. She has created works in both oil and acrylic. More than anything, she is looking forward to expanding her body of work.
A recent trip to the California coast brought a refreshing change from leafy greens to golden greenish browns and deep blue-green seas. The colorful rocks with their surf worn distortions and pools filled with creatures and stones drew my attention and I tilted my frame towards the earth and painted.
