My work develops from an initial idea I want to explore. These subjects vary from how to get through the challenge of life with the help of spiritual practice, to the combination of a tall shape and a small one. I also work with relationships between different entities and energies. This includes using found objects and materials that don’t normally go together, and the different ways to apply paint or sculpt as it relates to the subjects and the moment in which I’m working. The initial reason for making a picture or object is often hidden in the final result. The result happens through a visual and physical conversation between me, the idea and the artwork itself. Spontaneity must be part of the experience. I try to keep distractions to a minimum or include them in the process. I work in many mediums, including found or used objects to add history and depth to each piece.
This painting is a meditative piece about the relationship between simple shapes and colors.
