As a retiree who has worked at in various applications of the art field though out most of his career, Matt Baker now has time to pursue his interest in fine arts. Matt’s style is very representational coming from a background of technical illustration. This bolsters his need to make the work believable while portraying the presence of atmosphere around the subject. Whether in landscapes, or figurative work, all of Matt’s paintings demand the infusion of accurate color and light to show his the artist’s personal insights of the subject. With the next empty canvas arrives a new challenge.
"Skadi's Touch" started from a Facebook photo -- Who schedules a street fair this early in the year? I changed this scene to further incorporate the feeling that no matter what the Nores goddess of winter brings, the human soul can force its own will and preform the Spring ritual whenever they desire. Come rain, snow or bitter cold. "Spring is coming and by golly, we will celebrate!"
