I have been on a creative journey for over 40 years. Every painting creates a different set of circumstances so I don’t have any formulas. I believe that working directly from life is necessary in order to create spontaneous and energetic work. Although I experiment with different techniques and subject matter, I maintain a strong respect for the traditions of art Educated at Hollins University and then at Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in Art History and painting, I continued studying painting and drawing at The Corcoran School of Art under William Christenberry. I have had over 20 solo exhibitions and have been selected in over 30 juried exhibitions and have participated in Paint Annapolis, Wayne Plein Air Festival, Ellicott City “Paint It”, Art in the Open in Wexford ,Ireland, and Brandywine Valley Plein Air It has been my privilege to be an instructor at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, Maryland for over 20 years. Currently I am represented by The Byrne Gallery in Middleburg,VA and Tryst Gallery in Leesburg,VA
This painting was done in Wyoming as the sun went down over the Tetons. It is a very spontaneous response to a scene that I captured in a few minutes before the light was gone.
