A native of the Washington area, Pat Whittle is an emerging artist based in Loudoun County, Virginia. Her most recent paintings range from imaginative, intensely colored landscapes to more realistic renderings of nature. While primarily a landscape painter she sometimes will explore still life or even the figure. She has created works in both oil and acrylic. More than anything, she is looking forward to further explorations and expanding her body of work.
This piece came to be after a visit to the National Gallery and a quick photo, shot from the hip of this scene. I thought the contrast of the lovely young woman 'inspecting' Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's work, 'The Medical Inspection', brought up all sorts of questions especially with the current climate regarding women, sexuality, harassment and abuse. Not knowing the lady, I can only guess at what is going through her mind.
